Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with adults, most often in one-on-one individual therapy sessions.

  • All of the techniques I use can be done either in person or online via video conferencing.

  • In-person sessions are lovely, but online sessions work well, too.

If possible, it is nice to work in person at first, at least to get to know each other; however, online therapy can also be done with great success.

Occasionally, I have clients request in-person sessions as they feel like online therapy doesn’t work for them.

  • Absolutely. I often work with people whose therapists have referred them to me for a certain type of treatment or to address a particular traumatic life experience. We have several options for working together, including extended therapy sessions or therapy intensives.

  • At our first session, we will begin a process of getting to know each other and establishing your goals for our work together, as well as developing a treatment plan to achieve them.

Many of my clients come in wanting to try a particular technique right away, so we can make time for this as part of our first meeting.

I will have some basic questions as we get started to ensure that I understand your needs and can use any requested techniques safely and appropriately.

  • The quantity and frequency of sessions needed varies based on your goals for therapy as well as on your life experiences and history.

A one-time car accident causing some PTSD symptoms is different from multiple traumatic experiences over a childhood or a lifetime, thus more sessions may be required to address a lifelong history of challenges versus only one recent difficult experience.

However, if you have a regular weekly therapy appointment with another therapist, and/or have received a lot of mental health services, you may require fewer appointments. Often clients who have a regular therapist come for a certain type of treatment or to address a particular traumatic life experience.

Generally speaking, therapy is recommended more often when more support is needed, for example weekly. If you meet less often than every two weeks, the benefits may decrease due to the slower pacing, although sometimes this works out depending on the nature of the work and the technique being employed.

Some of the techniques can be done for longer sessions over a shorter time, such as for 90-minute sessions, or perhaps for a three-day intensive of three hours/day, with breaks.

  • I do not take insurance directly, but I can provide a super bill for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.

  • I do have some lower fee slots, although often they are full.
