Extended Therapy Sessions
Fifty minutes is a convention, not a clinical truth. It suits a great deal of therapy, and for some work a larger container can feel more complete and satisfying.
When a longer session is the better choice
Body-based and brain-based methods have a warm-up. Getting settled, finding the target, doing the processing and closing down properly is a sequence, and for some of that work fifty minutes means moving through the whole arc briskly rather than at an unhurried pace.
An extended session — 75 minutes, 90 minutes, or two to three hours — lets the whole arc happen once.
The middle option
Extended sessions sit between weekly therapy and a full intensive.
They're available in person at the Albany office and online across California and Texas, using any of the four methods.
Cost
Extended sessions are $225 per 50 minutes, pro-rated to the length we agree. Self-pay; superbills provided. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies.
An extended session suits you if
- You want more room than fifty minutes without committing to consecutive days.
- You're travelling in and would rather do one substantial session than two short ones.
- We're working with something that reliably needs longer than an hour to reach and settle.
- You'd like to try the longer format before deciding on an intensive.
Not sure which length fits?
