BUILDING SOMETHING TO STAND ON

Resource tapping

Before we go anywhere difficult, we build somewhere steady to return to. Resource tapping is how — and for a lot of people it turns out to be the part that changes things.

What it is

Using gentle bilateral tapping, we strengthen internal states you can actually feel in your body: calm, protection, wisdom, nurture. Not as ideas — as felt experience you can call up deliberately.

It comes out of Laurel Parnell's attachment-focused work and it's the foundation I build on with most clients.

Why it isn't just preparation

People often expect this to be the warm-up before the real work. Frequently it is the real work — especially if steadiness is the thing that was missing. You can't process from inside overwhelm, and installing something to stand on changes what becomes possible.

You take it with you

This is one of the tools I most like sending people home with. Once a resource is installed you can access it on your own — before a difficult conversation, in the car, at 3am.

Steadiness is buildable.
