Flash Technique therapy.

Gentle. Fast. Without re-living it.

Anna Talamo, LMFT — Flash Technique therapy in Albany, California

The Flash Technique is a newer trauma approach — developed within the EMDR community — that reduces the emotional charge of a difficult memory without requiring you to talk through it. You keep the material in the back of your mind while attention stays on something positive up front. The nervous system does the rest.

Who it helps

Is this a fit?

  • A memory that feels too overwhelming to approach head-on
  • Wanting relief without narrating what happened
  • Preparing the nervous system before deeper EMDR work
  • Clients with limited time, or between longer sessions
What to expect

Inside the room.

  1. 01

    Anchor

We start by choosing a positive engagement — a memory, image, song, or thought that lifts you.

  2. 02

    Reference in the back

You bring the difficult material into awareness only in a peripheral way.

  3. 03

    Flashes

Brief blinks or bilateral cues while your focus stays on the positive anchor.

  4. 04

    Re-check

We check the charge of the memory — most clients notice a clear drop in intensity.

  5. 05

    Close & carry

Ground, close, and leave with a resource you can practice on your own.
