Therapy for relationship difficulties
Different people, same ending. If you've noticed that your relationships tend to follow a shape — the same conflict, the same distance, the same moment where it turns — that pattern is worth understanding, because it's usually older than any of the people in it.
Please note — this is individual work
I work with individuals, not couples. If you're looking for couples therapy I'd point you elsewhere. What I offer is the chance to work on your side of the dynamic — which, in practice, often changes the dynamic more than people expect.
Where the pattern comes from
How you learned to attach — whether closeness was safe, whether needs got met, whether you had to earn love — becomes a template. It runs automatically, chooses partners, interprets ambiguity, and decides in a fraction of a second whether you're about to be abandoned or engulfed.
Attachment-Focused EMDR works directly with that template rather than only discussing it.
What changes
Not that you become someone who never gets triggered. What shifts is the gap: a moment between the trigger and the reaction where you can choose. That gap is where relationships change.
You might recognize
- The same argument, in every relationship
- Panic when someone pulls away — or suffocation when they get close
- Choosing people who can't quite meet you
- Losing yourself in relationships and not noticing until later
- Difficulty asking for anything without apologizing for it
The pattern isn't your personality.
